‘What we know is a drop, what we don’t know is an ocean.’ -Isaac Newton

Notes

I think one of the motives of science is to leave some kind of memorial behind oneself. And people can do that in a variety of ways. They can make discoveries and be remembered for that. But there is also a modest role a scientist can play, and that is to assemble information and material which, in long run, will be helpful to others. […] The idea that one’s scientific life has to be motivated by the off-chance that one may make great discovery, and be remembered for that was too risky, too much of a gamble. I preferred the more modest approach.’ -S. Chandrasekhar

General Relativity Notes

Published:

This lecture note closely follow video lectures on General Relativity and Cosmology given by Professor Thanu Padmanabhan at IISER, Pune during Jan-April 2009, and his book Gravitation which complements these video lectures nicely.

Advanced General Relativity Notes (VL)

Published:

These lecture notes closely follow video lectures on General Relativity by Prof. Eric Poisson at the Perimeter Institute. Some of the content which was not discussed at all or at length in these video lectures are covered in the book. I have also made notes of the book which can be found here.

Black hole Quasinormal Modes

Published:

This report was prepared for the completion of the summer project on QNMs. The code repository for finding eigenvalues with WKB approximation and Continued fraction methods can be found here: Code Repository

Cosmology and Statistics Notes

Published:

These lecture notes covers topics such as basics of cosmology (FLRW, Lambda CDM, cosmological observables, inflation), cosmic distance ladder (Cepheids, Planetary nebulae, SN-Ia, GRBs), standard sirens, correlation function and power spectrums, variable Chaplygin gas, statistical techniques for data modelling such as method of least squares, orthogonal distance regression method, minimum chi-square method and maximum likelihood method.
